What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)?
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a transformational therapy and personal development method, developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970s. NLP combines insights from psychology, language and neurology to provide practical tools for achieving personal and professional success.
Bandler and Grinder were inspired by the techniques of renowned therapists like Milton Erickson, Virginia Satir and Fritz Perls. They observed the methods of these exceptional therapists and created NLP from their discoveries so that we may replicate their results.

Neuro: Refers to the brain processes that shape our thoughts, emotions and actions. Understanding these helps us appreciate how our mental states influence our actions.
Linguistic: Explores how language affects our perceptions and interactions with others. Adjusting our language can positively transform our experiences and outcomes.
Programming: Describes the process of reprogramming our thought patterns and behaviours to achieve our desired results.
Because of its power in creating change, large parts of it have been adopted into other therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Who is it for?
If you’re struggling to fully enjoy life or achieve your goals, NLP offers powerful tools for transformation. Whether you want to advance your career, improve a sporting or creative performance or enhance your personal development, NLP techniques can help.
For instance, the Fast Phobia Technique can assist in overcoming phobias in as little as 15 minutes. Additionally, NLP’s linguistic tools are invaluable for crafting effective hypnotic scripts and suggestions.
NLP is useful in a range of areas, including improving communication, breaking negative habits, enhancing confidence, managing stress and emotions, setting goals, enhancing achievement and improving sport or creative performance.
In short, NLP is effective in helping individuals change their thought patterns, improve communication and accelerate personal development in various aspects of life.

What happens in a session?
My approach is client-centred and collaborative. We’ll work together to uncover patterns, identify challenges and map out solutions.
I often combine NLP with other modalities such as mindfulness, hypnosis, EFT and other behavioural techniques to give you the most effective results and according to your preferences.
I can also incorporate nutritional guidance into our sessions if appropriate. Nutrition plays a vital role in how we feel, think and behave, and by understanding the influence of it in supporting your brain and nervous system – the neurochemicals and biochemicals - you may deepen your therapy success.
Where to start
If you’re ready to take that first step, I’m here to help. Start with a Healing Roadmap assessment.
BOOK a Healing RoadmapClinic locations
I currently serve clients face-to-face in Sussex and Kent, including Hastings, St Leonards on Sea, Bexhill-on-Sea, Eastbourne, Brighton, Rye, Robertsbridge, Battle and surrounding area.
Face to face sessions are always best because the personal connection builds a deeper sense of privacy, trust and safety. This can be particularly important when addressing sensitive issues. In-person sessions also provide a more reliable setting with fewer technical disruptions.
Therapy online
Based in the UK, I also have some global clients. Some local people also like this option sometimes when it isn’t possible to meet in person. I may agree to work online after we have discussed this to assess whether it is a safe and effective way of working with your particular issues.
